Years ago, I used to work on my cars. It was a guy thing to get out the tools, change the spark plugs, adjust the carburetor, put in some new points get it running good again. I had to quit doing that when they started putting computers in cars and the parts that I used to be able to change were replaced with more advanced systems.
However, one thing that I did keep doing for quite a while was to change the plugs. All the newer cars with the front wheel drive had half of the spark plugs in the back of the engine compartment. I was still able to do those until I met my match one day. I had all my extensions and the u-joint knuckle that I had used before. But no matter how hard I tried or what I did, I just couldn’t get to those back plugs. I tried over and over.
Of course, Dianne came out and let me know how many times I had messed up trying to fix things on the car and couldn’t get it done in the past. So, after an hour or so of messing with these things, I finally took a break and just sat down. I was so desperate. I was at the end of my rope!
As I sat there, I began to pray. I was trying to save some money and do it myself. I didn’t want to take it to an expensive garage and pay a lot. But as I sat there, Jack came to my mind. Jack was a guy in the church that worked on cars on the side. He had built a nice shop, fully equipped, and had done some work for us before. So, told Dianne that I was giving in and calling Jack even though I would have to pay him.
He wasn’t busy and I went right over, and he got the job done in less than 30 minutes. Even though I was still disappointed that I didn’t get it done, I was happy to have it finished and over with. And while Jack was working on my car, we were talking, and he was telling me about something that had happened to him, and he needed the extra money. So, it was a real blessing for him!
